Came in for brunch and had the Old Glory. Everything was on point, especially the thick cut crispy bacon. The food is local, well prepared, top quality, and SO GOOD. Nothing else like it in the area. Service was knowledgable and friendly. will definitely be back.

Junto has great promise but delivers very little food. There is artful presentation and then there is simply too little food. Junto nails the second half of that statement unfortunately. They should charge $10 more for the entrees and offer double the portion size to make it sufficient. Other than the rabbit tenderloin appetizer (overcooked and dry), the food was indeed very good. Problem was that we left hungry, even after having every dessert offered in the hopes of filling up. Three out of 4 of us had appetizers too so the most memorable portion of the evening was our remaining hunger when departing. Service was lovely and hopefully this was just an opening night issue that will soon be rectified.

Recently went on a venture to this fine eating establishment. I had made a reservation for 2, but did not plan accordingly, thus I found myself dining alone. The chairs were fairly soft and made for a comfortable experience. The dining room was a comfortable temperature, and, though somewhat oddly decorated, appealing to the senses. The staff was quick to make sure I was taken care of. A lovely blonde poured my water while I scanned the menu for something to tickle my fancy. I went ahead and put in for a small cheese plate to enjoy with the white wine I brought along. I decided upon the egg yolk ravioli, and the sturgeon. The ravioli was perfect, tons of flavor in every bite, but it did not compare to the sturgeon. This piece of fish was unlike any other I've ever had. The smokey flavor that was contained in every bite was simply orgasmic. I had never experienced such a thoroughfare of taste sensations until this dish. My only complaint about it is that it was unable to cure cancer, because something that amazing should have a miracle side affect. After feeling so satisfied by my meal, I decided to skip desert, but had a nice espresso instead. Overall, I was not disappointed in this establishment. I was ready to worship it as a place of sanctuary for amazing sturgeon. On my way out I was told to "Have a great night!" And that is exactly what I did.

We were looking for somewhere to meet a friend for dinner halfwayish between Wilmington and the Philly burbs when I remembered a note I had scrawled on a scrap of paper a few months ago. It said: "Junto - farmhouse BYO - Chadds Ford." Ooh, let's try that! Even though the only reservation we could get was at 5:30, we decided to go for it. We were glad we did. There are lots of options for putting together a meal, and instead of going the traditional appetizer/entree route, the three of us ordered cheeses, charcuterie, and various soups and first courses to go along with our red and white wines. Everything we ordered was excellent and artful, right down to the raw honey they served with the cheese. Standouts were chicken corn soup, with crunchy "huitlacoche riwwels" (yep, that really is a thing), beef and skate cheeks, and bay scallops. I was a tad disappointed when I saw that the Egg Yolk Ravioli should have been called Egg Yolk Raviolo (there was only one), but it turned out to be pretty filling and very yummy. We shared two desserts - the sheep milk panna cotta with corn crumbles was fabulous; I'd go back just to have it again, though next time I'll be sure to get one all to myself, especially since the second dessert ordered was a flourless chocolate torte, which I didn't sample because migraines keep me from eating chocolate. (However, my companions both seemed to enjoy it a great deal!) Definitely looking forward to returning to Junto - which was packed by the time we left at 7:30. If I have one cavil, it's this: Even though it was just us and one other table when we got there, we had to share a wine cooler with them, which would have involved getting up from our table to refill our glasses. Each table should have its own wine bucket, so diners can refill their own glasses if the wait staff is otherwise engaged.

Meh. Came for brunch with hubby after seeing this restaurant on zaggat's list. potato pattycake: tastes more carrot than potato. Ugh! I like veggie but this i cannot eat. Beef hash with two eggs: not bad. Corn biscuits with gravy and potato: mediocre. Grits (side): okay. Nothing stands out. Except the tiny portions. Seriously, we are talking brunch here! We'll probably be hungry in two hours. Total came out $36 + tip. Very unsatisfied. See pics. Note the plates are salad plate size. Oh, and the tea is just a least expensive teabag. Definitely will not return.

Good, inventive cuisine particualrly considering what else is being offered in the area. But that being said, the extremely small portions and big prices don't equate to a good value or a memorable experience. For our party of four, we had four entrees, two appetizers, a dessert and two bottles of sparking water, and our bill was over $200 with tip. While some of the food was really good (especially the beef cheeks appetizer and sturgeon entree) the amount of food we were served was so small that we left really hungry which has honestly never happened anywhere else in recent memory. Also, a number of our dishes were only served lukewarm, the one dessert that we tried was well, pretty horrible (the flourless chocolate cake aka flavorless chocolate cake), and the bathroom was pretty filthy. And you know what that says about the cleanliness of the kitchen :(.

To be clear, the food is fabulous. If dining was only about the food, I would easily give this restaurant 5 stars. We particularly liked the roots plate, the gnocchi, the mushroom stew and the scallions. Unfortunately, the spacing between parties was very small and we could easily hear the woman next to us for our entire dinner. This is not the woman's fault, it is the layout of the place. Secondly, the wait staff are very young, like high school, early college young, and it showed. For those two reasons, we realized that we would not go back to spend $180+. For that amount of money, we want a wonderful dinner AND dining experience.

Had an excellent dinner here last night. Was greatly impressed with not only the food but the level of service we received. Our waiitress was very polished and professional which is hard to find in Delco. The food was amazing. We started with the cheese board which consisted of all local fresh cheeses. I had the wild mushroom appetizer and my husband had the squash soup. Everything was very fresh and lovingly prepared. My scallops were the best I ever had! Delicious! This is a true dining experience for those who are looking for that. We had to wait a while between courses but that is what fine dining is all about!

It would be rude for me to complain about my dining experience since my dear friends treated us to the night. I came in with high expectations of junto because of other reviews. One of our diners quipped that the cornbread in the shape of an ear of corn was the best thing of the night but I think that is being too tough. All in all the food was all very good. The egg yolk ravioli was absolutely delicious even if it is a little gimmicky. my lasting impression was some of the meals were skimping on the main Ingredient for example there was barely any chicken liver moose on the Charcuterie. The foie gras with butternut squash special Only had a few crumbles of foie. It was delicious but I wish they hadn't gotten me excited for a piece of Foie when it was really featuring a piece of butternut squash with foie "butter". Since we didn't get the tasting menu I asked the chef to surprise me with an entrée of his choice. I was presented with perfectly prepared day boat scallops with Brussels sprout, cauliflower, smoked sweet potato and sauce salmis it's a nice balance of sweet scallops with bittersweet brussels sprouts and cauliflower the smoke flavor added a nice aroma sensation. We ordered the "Shoofly Profiteroles" advertising a Pecan and buckwheat cream puff ...this was a miss... Oddly dry and mostly left on the plate. The room was packed so maybe they were overwhelmed. So this is not a bad review it is just not a rave review.

One of the five best restaurants in the Western Suburbs of Philadelphia. I'm shocked that Junto didn't show up on the first screen of my local search. The food is fantastic, incorporates locally grown produce and the tasting menus in particular are a culinary delight. It's not only BYO, but supplies proper glassware, and the service is both friendly and excellent. The prices aren't cheap but good value. Long may Junto prosper!

DUCK DINNER REVIEW: My parents, my husband and I have been talking about doing the duck dinner since our last dinner at Junto. Well we finally did it and here is what I have to say: 1. Our server came over and made us aware that she knows that we ordered the duck dinner and asked if we wanted to order any appetizers to start. I asked the server, as I was under the impression, if the duck dinner was four courses. She then asked if we ordered one or two ducks and we said we didn't know that we just ordered the duck dinner. So she had to go in the back to ask what the deal was with the duck dinner. Maybe they don't do too many of these but it was really confusing for us. She then came back and said that there are four duck courses but each plate is smaller. Still baffled, we ordered a meat and cheese plate to share which was absolutely delicious, especially the mortadella with fig bread. 2. Our courses started with foie gras which was the only picture that I managed to take since I was too concerned with taking my next bite of delicious duck! This foie gras was so delicate and rich that each bite you took coated your tongue with flavor. 3. Next to come out was pickled duck heart with pickled turnips. Maybe it was the wine but I laughed because I thought the waiter said "pickled duck parts" but he did not find that humorous at all! The pickled duck heart tasted just like pickled. I just couldn't eat mine due to the texture but my husband ate it for me. I ate all of the turnips on my plate. 4. The chef then came out to present the duck and to tell us about how they prepare the duck for our dinner. I was under the impression that he was going to leave the duck at our table so that we could just start carving away like a Thanksgiving turkey. But he took the duck back in to the kitchen which I again, thought they were going to carve the duck and then bring it back out so we didn't have to carve it ourselves. We did not get that duck that he presented. But we did get two more very, very, very yummy dishes! 5. The third dish to come out was my favorite. It was duck leg raviolis and I will dream about these for the rest of my life! They were so melt-in-your-mouth fabulous and I savored each bite of the two raviolis on my plate. 6. Last but not least were the duck breasts. You could taste the smoke flavor that was used to prepare the duck. It was good, but small. 7. At the end we were all under the assumption that he was just going to plop the duck down in front of us so we could dig in. Even though that didn't happen and the plates were smaller "tasting" plates, the portions really do equal just about one duck. One duck split among four people isn't like splitting a Thanksgiving turkey among four people so I think that's what we were expecting but received what we ordered. 8. The duck is $50 per person and since we had four, they charged $25 per extra person to split the duck among more than the intended two people. The service was a little rocky to start since it seemed like our server didn't really know how the duck dinner worked but after that bump it was smooth sailing for the rest of the meal. 9. Oh and the desserts are fabulous! I got the root beer float and my husband got the panna cotta. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

WOW what a great chef this guy is. Inventive, great presentations and flavorful! So lucky to have this restaurant less than 10 miles from home. I'm rating Junto 4.1 stars, almost all on the quality of the food. Had a mixed cheese & charcuterie which were very fresh; smoked chicken croquettes which were hand rolled & fried in fresh oil - amazing!; duck cannelloni where the home made ricotta tasted like it was made that day - bursting with flavor; day boat scallops where the sauce salmis so complemented the vegetables & scallops. The service is good. Sean was our waiter along with a food runner who explained everything nicely and a table clearer who was efficient & polite. The room is, well, Meh - chairs are a bit uncomfortable and the room can get quite noisy when it's a full house. The bar I set is the old Fountain Room at the Four Seasons. The food could have definitely been served there! Can't wait to go back - well done everyone!

After reading the Inquirer review, I went to Opentable and made a reservation for the first Saturday night I could get --- 30 days later. Finally ate there last night with our friends. There were hits and misses, but overall, I thought it was very good and would go back! My friend and I shared the tasting menu @ $55 each (minimum of 2 people need to order it). Our husbands ordered a la carte. Hits: The sturgeon and chicken main entrees were excellent, smoky, juicy portions. The day boat scallop dish was perfectly seared, perfectly just cooked fresh fresh fresh tasting. It was so good that I got only a bite of mine - my friend stole the rest. The beef cheeks dish was extremely tender and delicious. BYOB is a big plus. Misses were: (1) the wood planks that several of the dishes were plated on. Although I like the concept, the knife and fork scrapes/gouges from the previous diner(s) were off-putting IMO; if serving on wood, I recommend new or Not-scraped-up planks. (2) desserts need improvement. The chefs menu dessert was a tiny square of panna cotta for each of us. Although delicious, this single mouthful of dessert was really too tiny. My friend's husband ordered the chocolate cake. This was served with an odd strawberry-ish purée and an even odder clear aspic-ish concoction that in no way complemented the cake. The cake in itself was just okay. Chocolate desserts are easy to wow, so this was pretty disappointing.

We have eaten here three times. The first time everything was sensational. The alder smoked sturgeon was exceptional. During our second visit I expressed my doubt that the alder smoked sturgeon was, in fact, alder smoked sturgeon. They conceded that they had not been able to obtain the real thing and had made a substitute without changing the menu. Our third visit was disappointing. If I had to bet I would say that they are still substituting something for the alder smoked sturgeon. Several friends ordered duck cannelloni, but were puzzled by the absence of duck. The chicken croquettes were delicious. The wild mushrooms appetizer was good. Some of the desserts were good, but I would skip the whoopie pies and the root beer float. I no longer think that Junto is exceptional.

Junto is a fantastic BYOB! The food is inventive, flavorful, and of high quality! Thre service was thoughtful and well timed, especially considering the complexity of our order and the fact that we gave no instruction as to the timing of our dishes. Three of our party of four shared a specially prepared dish of fiddleheads, the smoked chicken croquettes, the beef cheek, and the pulled pork flatbread while the fourth person had the soup. Then we had a second round of appetizers where we each had our own egg ravioli, and the fourth had his own beef cheek. Then the three split the duck cannelloni, while the fourth had his own. We all felt that there was not a clunker in the bunch. The croquettes were crunchy and flavorful, and came with two interesting sauce components. The pulled pork flatbread was all about the pork and had awesome crispy pork on top. The beef cheeks were intensely beefy and tender, and the sugarkraut was a great accompaniment. The egg ravioli was insanely rich, well complemented by what seemed to be a demiglace sort of sauce, pork bits, and contrasted with a bit of peach. The duck cannelloni were tasty and everybody loved the sauce it came with. We all agreed that we would do the meal all over again, except dessert. The whoopi pies were so-so, a bit too dense and not particularly flavorful. The brown butter cake was better in texture, but fell far short of the flavor expectation set by dinner. If I hadn't eaten dessert it would have been a five star meal.

Here is a staff that works hard to create a very nice dining experience for you. Certainly one of the best crafted menus outside of the big city. We had the duck special for two, a whole duck brined for twelve days (!) then seated, and served in three courses. We had to bring some home. Our friends had a black bass they said was excellent. Service was a little slow, probably due to being packed after such great newspaper reviews. Dessert list was a bit slight, if that matters to you. Attentive, pleasant staff and wonderful tastes. Easy parking. Noise? My wife is quite sensitive to sound and was not bothered here, also the staff reads these reviews and is working on sound abatement. If you want a leisurely, well crafted dining experience, this is the place. Very well done.

We had seen a review of Junto in the Sunday Inquirer and decided to try it for Saturday brunch. We were not disappointed. Both my wife and I chose the "Old Glory" (two eggs any style, choice of meat, home fries & whole grain toast). My wife opted for thick cut smoked bacon, while I went with scrapple. Everything was delicious and fresh. The scrapple was brown and crispy on the outside, soft and nicely seasoned on the inside. Decaf coffee was prepared at our table with a French Press. The service was prompt and attentive. Prices were reasonable; we've paid more for less at other restaurants. We will surely return for dinner.

Perfect addition for those in search of a Philadelphia caliber restaurant/BYOB without the hefty price tag. Junto is a welcome addition to the area! We ate here on Saturday night with our neighbors and had a great time. Service was impeccable and the food was wonderful. I had the heirloom tomato salad and the forager's pasta. Everyone at the table was happy with their food!

It was going to be just a regular summer weeknight - that is until a friend recommended we try Junto. Words cannot express how amazing our evening turned out. Here are the highlights: Steamed Clams, Heirloom Tomato Salad (beautiful & delicious), Corn Soup, my favorite of the evening was the House Salad. Everything was so good. I only ate half of the salad so I could have some the next day. It was incredible. We also tried the Sauerkraut and Sausage. My husband loved this! Our dinners were equally as good. The chicken was tremendous as were the scallops. Onto the wait staff: Friendly & Knowledgeable. Our server was well versed on the menu. She was extremely attentive to detail and when asked about the ingredients in the Tomato Salad went back into the kitchen to find out exactly what herbs were used. I haven't had this level of fresh, interesting flavor combinations since my trip to Paris last year. We were so impressed with the Chef and can't wait to take our friends!

there were only 2 entree choices that a whole table of 6 of us had any interest in. other than that, rabbit for appetizer, rabbit for entree, venison, beef cheeks, etc. Also, there was a lot of mixing of sweet and savory, which is not to my liking (but that is a matter of taste). Room is very loud, they could use some soundproofing. I would go back if the menu changes. I think that the chef has some talent, just not broad appeal for this kind of food.

In the eyes of Ben Franklin "I had form'd most of my ingenious acquaintance into a club of mutual improvement, which we called the Junto." In business, we often referred to as a mastermind group. In the food world, we call it one hell of a restaurant. The menu is "locally eclectic," with a wide range of both sweet and savory plates all hailing from locally grown produce. It serves as a refreshing alternative to your "standard" breakfast and brunch options. For me the standout dishes include the grilled stickies, chicken liver toast and of course the duck shortie. Every aspect of junto has been cleverly and careful planned out with all aspects bringing you back to one central theme: Pennsylvania pride. In addition to every menu item being locally grown it is adorned with a clever name, paying homage to local Pennsylvania legends. Dishes titled "WE ARE" (Penn State!) and "Zwimmilkuche" leave no doubt that you are in Pennsylvania's homeland. Junto puts a modern twist on Pennsylvania classics. The wait staff was attentive and charming. The love that has gone into the décor and detailing, as well as the level of service and beautiful food, makes this an outstanding and memorable experience.

There is no waiting line at Junto. There will be very soon. A simply great meal. Literally made "yummy" noises out loud at several points. Had charcuterie - chicken liver pate was unbelievably good. Ravioli (egg center) was terrific and black bass was perfectly cooked. Only drawback: noise level is over the top. The restaurant is essentially one big room. They need to put up a few dividers so that diners at the same table can hear each other. Also, am not clear about price complaints. Dinner for 2 was $95, which included charcuterie, 2 apps, 2 entrees and a desert. Plates were appropriate portions.

My wife had dinner at Junto and it was a tale of two cites. The dinner started out fantastic but had and very underwhelming finish. Clams, beef cheek, chicken , corn soup, roots... Awesome. Ravioli, sturgeon , scallop, panna cotta just ok. Junto has a lot of potential and I think it will get better with age. You can tell the chef has skill, I just think there are some flavor combinations that can be enhanced. Service was great, wait staff very friendly. I have high hopes for Junto as this area is in desperate need of great restaurants and I think Junto can get there. The more casual session menu looks great and will be trying that soon.

oh. Em. Gee. I live in Delco (not on purpose) and have been waiting for something to replace the void left by Sycamore. This.far. exceeds. Not only did every crumb taste delicious, the customer service was superb and impressed my guest and me. It's a BYO so bring a bottle to share! The only downfall? That I don't live next door so I can eat there every day!

I am having trouble relating to the 5 star ratings - how can my experience be so radically different from everyone else? The service was slow and the food mediocre. We were the only 4 people in the restaurant for brunch and we had to wait 5 minutes before anyone even came out to the hostess stand. The hostess/waitress took us to a table that needed to be wiped down and set. After giving our drink orders, it took another 15 minutes to receive them. The water for the tea was lukewarm and it wasn't the correct tea. We placed our orders - appetizers and main. Half hour for the appetizers to appear. While eating the appetizers we asked when our main would be ready and the waitress said she'd have them fired up - so they hadn't even made them. She was excruciatingly slow and couldn't remember who ordered what. I had the We Are! (sticky bun) and Eggs Benedict. We Are! was fine but tasted like it had been made in bacon fat (some may like it for that reason). Eggs Benedict - the hollandaise was curdled and the potatoes tasteless. The bill came and I saw that the ice tea was not only $3.50 but I was charged another $3.50 for a refill. When I complained to the waitress that I wasn't told about a refill charge, she did apologize and take it off the check. I don't know if this experience was an anomaly - but we won't be returning to find out.

Had a great meal here after seeing Chef. Very innovative and local menu. We had the roasted root veg appetizer and the harvest salad. Delish and large portions. Fabulous corn bread. Hubby had the smoked sturgeon and I had the free range chicken. Wonderful combinations of flavors. Would definitely come again to try other items on the menu Byo. What more could you want?

I have had the pleasure of eating here for brunch and dinner. Brunch is fantastic, with delicious and interesting fare you will not find elsewhere in the suburbs or the city. The brunch standouts were the grilled stickies, chicken liver shmaltz, and buckwheat pancakes with a hint of kefir and delicious smoked blueberry butter. Dinner is even better - the dry aged duck special is a one of a kind experience, and a fantastic value at that. The appetizers and soups are inventive, fresh, and flavorful. The entrees are relatively simple and allow the quality proteins to stand out, without masking them in sauces or spices. Great food, great value, and great chef.

  • Brigid B.

I always am fair and true with my Yelp reviews. I heard very good things about Junto and was happy to try it since it is five minutes from our home. It's a BYOB which is great. One always feels that the bill will positivly reflect that there is not a bar tab. Our dinner was "good". For the price of the entrees it should have been wonderful. Our bill was $176.00 for four people and one of our guests only had a salad. When food is amazing we have no problem with the bill. This, as I said, was just good. Our server was amazing as were all of the staff. I'm so disapppointed that Junto did not "do it for us".

First off, I have not seen anything of this caliber in this area yet. This restaurant rivals some of the best restaurants in philly but at half the price. My wife and I came here on Saturday afternoon for brunch and we were the only ones here. That is criminal. If you like gourmet cuisine at diner prices come here for brunch you won't be disappointed.

I have eaten everywhere ( Daniel,Coi,Husk, Bouchon, The Salt Lick, Benoit, Commanders Palace, Ateleier Joel Rubichon, Babbo etc..) We were a group of 10 and got the tasting menu. It was actually very good with course after course executed well. The main down side was the horrible service. Our servers hand shook so bad we thought the plates would spill. Each course was just dumped on the table without even a single description. We even had to ask what animal the dish was. The beauty with eating in a fine establishment is that the description of the food actually would enhance the dining experience. We had to request multiple times for a description but this was largely ignored. We even had to request for coffee 3x to get him to come over. The cuisine is 4 stars BUT service sucks...Would I go back , maybe ,,if service improves.

  • Charles R.

I would give them a five star, but my order came out wrong. The food was very good, and interesting. The kraut with apples and ham had great taste and was really juicy. The Root salad was interesting with items you don't normally see on menus around here. Sturgeon was flaky, moist and came with a small serving of organic greens and a light flavorful sauce. Also tried the chicken liver pate on speck which was excellent. This place is in the old space of The Big Fork, so they have their own lot and they do offer outdoor seating. I would call in advance to sit outdoors since the space is limited. The one thing I find amazing is the fact that the bill with splitting dessert and one coffee was only $71.00. You cannot find food any where around as good as this for these prices. Yes , the servings are a little small, but it's always a fine line for restaurants these days to serve the right amount. Will be back again to try more items on this interesting menu.
